Midland Area Agency on Aging advocates and supports our aging population. We are constantly fighting for your rights to stay at home in dignity and also to keep you rights in a facility. We are also a proud supporter of combating fraud and scams directed at our more vulnerable population.
Senior Medicaid Patrol (SMP):
Expand your ability to keep an eye out for fraud and scams by attending one of our knowledge sessions at our local senior centers.
Long Term Care Ombudsman:
A long term care ombudsman works with nursing home and assisted living residents. They help answer resident concerns and complaints. The ombudsman advocates for resident rights and their well-being.
Ombudsman Services:
- Education: Inform residents, families, facility staff, and others on a variety of issues related to aging, long-term care, and residents' rights.
- Information & Referral: Empower individuals to resolve concerns and complaints on their own behalf.
- Consultation: Make recommendations for protecting the rights of residents. Make recommendations to improve resident care and quality of life.
- Individual Advocacy: Facilitate the resolution of concerns and complaints. Protect the rights of residents.
- Systems Advocacy: Identify significant concerns and problematic trends. Advocate for systemic changes that will benefit current and future residents in long-term care facilities.
